Happy New Year (Nyepi) 1930. On the 3rd of March was the Balinese New Year.

Bali uses another calendar system, the Wuku, based on the week, Balinese year is 420 days, so the Balinese calendar is 78 years behind us, therefore this year is 1930, HAPPY NYEPI. Click here if you want to know more about Nyepi

Ogoh-ogoh Parade to greet the Nyepi Day

To greet the Nyepi day, Hindu Society throughout Bali Island conduct a parade of Ogoh-Ogoh (Giant Idol like monsters). On the eve of Nyepi, people start to bang gongs or pieces of wood or cooking pans at home this is done in order to send all the bad spirits into the streets of the villages and with the parade in the evening to send the spirits away from the Island. Click here if you want to know more about the Ogoh Ogoh parade.

The Two Buttons Ogoh-Ogohs - arriving mid May

These three scary monsters are to be part of the New Year (1930) opening at the Two Buttons Warehouse. We hope that the monsters will survive the trip over so many oceans until they arrive in Frenchtown.

The scary yellow lion ....grrrrrrrrrrrr
The black warrior boohoo
And the really, really scary red devil.....woooooooooo

If you still want to be even more scared click here to see the full parade in the haunted village of Ubud in Bali.

Mid May, the free Two Buttons shuttle from downtown Frenchtown to the warehouse starts operating. In indonesia these tricycles are called "becaks" and they are lots of fun, now two buttons has its own becaks and should be operating mid may, hopefully just before our spring party.
